A 6 mile walk (easy/moderate gradient with one short steep section) from Meldon Reservoir which follows the West Okement river through oak woods and then climbs gently to the open moor along the ancient King Way. There is a small stream to cross via stepping stones and NO STILES along the way. Some of the paths are stony in places and very likely to be muddy. There are also bridleways and tarmac lanes. The end of the walk is along the southern side of the lake. This is a dog friendly walk as long as they are on leads when near animals on the moor and also on the tarmac lanes.
