24/02/19 -- Walkhampton, Burrator & Yennadon Down

A pleasant walk (approx: 6 miles) full of great views (weather permitting) following lanes, footpaths, tracks, fields and moorland with a small amount of road walking. From the car park we head to Walkhampton and after passing St Mary the Virgin Parish Church the route heads over some narrow ancient granite stiles towards the dismantled Plymouth and Dartmoor rail track. We then follow the flat route for several miles passing Burrator Reservoir and finally heading back to the car park over Yennadon Down. There are a few downhills and uphills along the way. The terrain will probably be muddy in places. There are cows and sheep in some fields. There are no toilets.
Meet for a 10.00 am start at the public car park (free) by Lowery Cross, Yennadon Down, Dousland. Grid ref: SX547694.
For car share meet at The Watermark car park, Ivybridge for a 9,15 am departure.
Remember to bring refreshments for the tea/coffee and lunch stops. Walkers should wear suitable footwear and outdoor clothing. Walking poles are optional.
